The Greater Manchester Athletics Management Committee has confirmed it’s decision to award the hosting of the 2018 track and field championships to Bury.

This is the first time in the history of the club that this prestigious county event has been hosted at the Market Street facility. Facilities director and club vice-chair Roger Morley said; ‘the committee were clearly impressed by the bid submitted by Bury and what was seen during a recent site-visit. The ground staff have worked tirelessly to ensure the facility is in excellent condition and this builds on the success of our recent hosting of the Northern Masters championships’.

The championships are expected to take place on the weekend of the 12th and 13th May and a working committee led by John Simpson has already met to commence the planning.
