Erin Kenyon and Christie Cook competed at the Trafford AC Grand Prix meeting at the Longford Park stadium last Tuesday. Erin set a new lifetime best of 5.11.71 in the 1500m taking 11th place and she was delighted with her run. Christie won her 800m in a season’s best time of 2.20.23 and is close to improving her personal best.
The previous weekend saw 7 young athletes travelling to Blackpool to compete in the YDL Upper League. For the under 20s, Sam Pakes won the 800m in a new best of 2.10.4 a result he matched in the 400m hurdles where he posted a time of 65.5 before taking 4th in the javelin with a best throw of 18.56.
In the under 17s competition there was a win for Stefan Kalambouka in the 3000m, where he set a new best of 9.53.5. Brandon Wilson took 5th in the A 100m in 12.1, a lifetime best and then took 2nd in the B 200m in 25.1. Fahad Iqbal took 6th in the B 100m in 13.8 and 6th in the 400m in 62.2 before participating in the triple jump competition where he came 4th in 8.95. James Coghlan set a new lifetime best of 23.9 taking 2nd in the A 200m and then won the B shot with a throw of 8.91. Michael Thornton had a busy afternoon in the field events, taking 3rd in the long jump (5.16) and winning the A shot (10.10), he then teamed up with James, Brandon and Fahad to take 3rd place in the 4 x 100m relay.
