Last weekend Benn Heywood faced near arctic conditions to compete in the appropriately named Windy Hill Fell Race near Littleborough. Benn produced what he described as ‘his best race for Bury’ in taking 10th overall and finishing first in his under 23 age category.
The course is over a demanding 9 mile route on the moors above Hollingworth Lake and Benn covered the course in just over 62 minutes. Despite sustaining a knee injury following a fall near the end of the race Benn held his form to deliver the excellent result.
