The Bury Grand Prix series saw senior athletes competing in the testing Ruth Walczak 5k trail race up in Littleborough on Wednesday 18th May. The results recorded a fantastic 1-2-3 for Bury athletes with every Bury competitor winning a prize.

Winner of the race was Ben Coop who stormed clear of the field and recorded a time of 16.14. In second place was Jim Ardin with a nippy 16.52 as he prepares for ultra-distance challenge. Byron Edwards took third place in 18.20.

In tenth place overall, but first female finisher was Jenny Yates, underlining her excellent form with a run of 21.35. Fifth female to finish was Lizzie Cheshire, fresh from her multi-event triumphs on the track in the Northern League, with a time of 22.49. Following Lizzie home in sixth place for female competitors was Alison Dale in 23.49.
