Club members voted unanimously at the Extraordinary General Meeting on 25th June for the club to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). A constitution for the CIO is being drafted using the Charity Commission’s guidance document and this will be agreed at the nest club management committee meeting on Monday 13th July. We are required to name our first trustees in that document before we send it to the Charity Commission for approval. The current draft is is attached below:
All members of the club who are aged 16 or over are invited to consider applying to be one of the first trustees, It is not a requirement to be a member of the club’s current management committee. In line with our draft constitution we would need to name more than 3 trustees, but believe that 5 to 7 names will meet our requirements. The below link to the Charity Commission’s guidance document on being a trustee is inserted for information:
If you are interested in this key role in supporting the club with it’s development please submit an email of interest to club chairman Mark Granby (firstname.lastname@example.org) by midnight on Friday 10th July 2020. Your email should include a brief outline of the skills and commitment you would bring as a trustee to the charity.
As well as the Trust Board, the charity will have sub-committees with delegated responsibility to ensure the charity meets its objectives. We also welcome expressions of interest from people wishing to support the club in these key roles. Trustees and sub-committee members will all be volunteers.
