Seven members of Bury AC competed in Sunday’s Trafford 10k over a fast flat course in the usual high quality field. First to finish was Martin Clark who crossed the line in 32.18 to take 53rd place. Next in was Jack Passey, making his debut over the distance and recording an impressive 33.50 to take 112th. Daniel Chapman was the next finisher clocking 34.40, just 7 seconds off his PB, to place 130th. Sinead Taylor ran a great race to record 35.30, only her second time under 36 minutes and finishing as 9th woman. Next was Paul Johnston whose 36.24 gave him 12th place in the V45 category. Craig Sykes was the next finisher recording 38.37 to give him 15th place in the V50 category. Sarah Flett was delighted to duck under the 40 minute barrier for the first time. Her 39.44 performance was good enough to give her 11th place in the F40 category.
The previous day a number of club members tested themselves at the Parkrun in Heaton Park. James Brown was the runaway winner with 16.25 with Rob Fowler in 3rd with 17.29. It was good to see Oliver Donnelly running again and his 18.11 in 7th is an indicator that he is finding form again. Matt Finch placed 10th with 18.23 and Curtis Simpson took 18th with 19.28. Rob Butterworth wasn’t far off his PB placing 26th in 19.54. Katie Geelan added to her long list of first place finishes with a time of 20.05 and Sarah Thomas was second with 20.39. Father and son duo of Adam and Max Worsley ran round together and recorded 20.44 and 20.43 respectively.
Earlier on in the week some of the club’s junior members competed at the English Schools Cross Country Cup first round competition at Arrowe Park on the Wirral where they all represented Bury Grammar.
