Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts was the club’s guest of honour at the second of the three Bury Mini League meetings on Wednesday 8th June. He took great delight in supporting the young athletes and presenting the winners with their medals. The earlier deluge that had threatened the cancellation of the event moved off leaving a beautiful sunny evening.

On the track the first event was the 80m sprints. In the under 9s races there was a bronze medal for Nyah Coates. For the under 11s, Enya Hartley took gold for the girls and Oliver Horford silver for the boys. It was a Bury one-two-three in the under 13 boys event with Jerel Livingston taking gold, Elliot Savage silver and Evan Savage bronze. Ella Hall took a silver medal in the girls race.

In the 600m races Nyah Coates took silver in the under 9s. Reilly Carson put in a battling performance in the under 11s but had to settle for silver in a dip finish.

The 150m races saw another bronze medal for Nyah Coates and one for Herbie Kay in the under 9 boys. Enya Hartley took silver in the under 11s and Oliver Horford and Noah Carter took gold and silver for the boys. For the under 13s there was another silver for Ella Hall and gold, silver, bronze for Jerel Livingston, Elliot Savage and Rowan Norberry respectively.

The final track events were the 800m for under 13s. Erin Kenyon and Freya Potts both ran strongly to take silver and bronze in the girls race. For the boys Jerel Livingston was able to kick past Evan Savage to take gold. Jay Cook ran well to take the bronze medal.

On the field events for the under 9s there were more medals for Nyah Coates taking gold in the javelin and bronze in the long jump. Jack Everrett won gold in the boy’s javelin. In the under 11s Noah Carter and Freddie Worthington took gold and silver in the long jump. Reilly Carson, Connie Potts and Enya Hartley made it a Bury gold, silver, bronze in the girls’ javelin and Noah Carter and Harry Yates were gold and bronze medallists respectively in the boys’ event.

In the under 13s it was gold, silver, bronze again for Bury in the long jump for Jerel Livingston, Jay Cook and Elliot Savage. Eleanor Long took bronze in the girls’ event. In the javelin Erin Kenyon and Abi Howard won silver and bronze medals and this was repeated by Jerel Livingston and Evan Savage for the boys.
