Last weekend Bury athletes were well and truly amongst the medals at the Greater Manchester Track and Field Championships held at Longford Park in Stretford. An amazing 4 individual gold medals went to Grace Goodsell (U15G 100m 12.78, 200m 26.36, high jump 1.45 and long jump 5.21) as well as helping her team to gold in the 4 x 100m relay. Daisy Worthington won 2 individual golds (U15G 800m 2.18.93 and 75m hurdles 12.32) as well taking silvers in the high jump (1.45) and long jump (5.09).
Elliot Savage won the gold in the U13 Boys 800m (2.17.99) and took silver in the long jump (4.61) and helped the boys relay team to gold. Twin brother Evan took bronze in the 800m (2.20.15). Gold medals also went to Jerel Livingston (U15B long jump 5.74), Harriet Vaughan (U17W discus 20.94) and Katherine Townsend (U15G discus). Harriet also took silver in the pole vault (3.00). Abigail Howard won silver in the U13G 70m hurdles (12.93) as did Ella Hall in the U15G hammer (17.49).
Christie Cook took bronze in the senior womens’ 800m (2.21.57) and was delighted for younger brother Jay who won bronze medals in the U13B high jump (1.35) and discus (17.88). The U13 girls took bronze in the relay (57.01) as did the U15 girls B team (58.03). The U15 boys took silver in their relay (50.72). Other Bury competitors at the championships included Amy Garroch, Ella Hall, Charlotte Larkin, Grace Gibson, Brandon Wilson, Jenna Allen-Cartwright, Gilbert Vaughan, Freya Potts, Heledd Rimmer and Erin Kenyon.
