Club vice-chairman Roger Morley took a well earned break from his hard work in looking after the Bury AC facilities and travelled down to Birmingham on Sunday to compete in the British Masters Track and Field Championships. Roger took part in a very competitive M60 triple jump competition and edged his way into the gold medal position with a best leap of 9.25m – holding off the silver medallist by just 2 cm!

The standards in Masters athletics are continually improving it is excellent news that Bury can now boast a National Masters champion from among our ranks. Roger is keen to encourage wider participation in Masters events from our over 35s and he is happy to give advice to anyone seeking guidance on competition. There are regional and national competitions for road running, cross country and track and field.

Well done Roger – we’re proud of you!
