There have been some excellent performances from Bury athletes over the fells over recent days. In the Holcombe Two Towers Fell Race on 8th June the Bury team of Ben Coop, Ben Forrest and Duncan Forrest took third team prize. Ben Coop underlined the depth of his talent in taking 2nd place (34.14). Young Ben Forrest was the first junior athlete to finish taking a very creditable 7th place in 37.20. Ben’s dad, Duncan, took 32nd overall (44.34) to secure the team prize.
On 11th June Ben Forrest competed in the Turner Uphill Fell Race in the Lake District. Running against some of the best young fell runners in the country Ben took an excellent 12th place in 19.47.
The following day Ben Coop raced in the 6 mile Knowl Hill Fell Race, organised by Rochdale Harriers. Ben took an excellent 2nd place in the tough 6 mile event.
The same weekend Byron Edwards competed in the Mizuno Endure 24 hour race down in Wasing Woods near Aldermaston. Byron took an excellent 5th place, covering 21 laps of the course in the allocated time and clocking up a massive 105 miles.
