There is a considerable amount of work taking place in the background to ensure that the facilities available for members and hirers are the best they can be. Hillsport contractors are currently on the Market Street site to upgrade the hammer circle and cage and the shot circle. This upgrade will meet the TrackMark requirements that will allow the club to host competitions and support our throwers by giving them first class facilities to use. The finance for this upgrade has come from grants and the match-funding from our valued partners at Bury Council. The picture below shows the contractors at work.

A number of members of the senior endurance group (Declan Tattersall, Brian Thomas, Irfan Qureshi, Jordan Harreld, Lawrence Fairclough, Dominic Nabb and Jack Griffiths) volunteered a Sunday morning off training to help take up the old and damaged edging stones around the edge of our cinder track. Marshalls have kindly donated new edging stones to the club and a contractor will be fitting these in the near future. Coach Development Officer and Fundraising Coordinator John Conroy was delighted with the progress that the volunteers made. A real team effort!

Club vice-chair Roger Morley has been successful in securing funding from a local business that will allow the club to install new perimeter fencing. Local firm Cocklestorm will be undertaking the work and will do so in support of the club. Additional funding has been secured from Bury Council. This will serve to protect the club from vandals and make the ground a safer place for members and hirers.
